As of today, there is a requirement that an IBM ID must be an E-mail address to log into Workspace. Many long-term IBM customers/partners still have an "old" ID with short name format - but also with many services connected to it.
IBM refers to phone numbers for people to call in to manage IBM IDs, but - again as of now - there is no way to change an IBM ID to become an email address.
This information is not really clear exposed - its useless to call when the change cannot be made. Also a "phone call" is typically not the right process for such a sensitive action.
I suggest to clearly mention that - for the time being - a new ID needs to be generated, and - later - these IDs can be merged/migrated without loosing services that are associated.
I also suggest to mention that for users who have "no" other services associated (and how to figure that out) - then a user should be quickly deleting the old ID and create the new ID - done.
This info should also be available to the IBM ID team receiving calls - they seemed a bit overwhelmed this week.
