With many spaces and DMs, I'm also frustrated by my inability to order my spaces as I see fit.

If you ordered your list - how do you anticipate keeping up with new messages - just by scanning the list for unread marks?

Yes, just like I keep up with received calls, new vmail, new email, etc on my cell phone. The little red dot works great. If that was shown on the icon for each group, or on the picture of each person in my DM list, then I would know there are new messages in that space. When I then go into the space, I can look at the sequentially or use Moments to help me quickly get to the new posts.

On my phone, all received calls, new voice mail, new email is ordered by recency - so are you comparing the ordered list to your phone contacts vs. a separate list for activity?

The little red dots show up on my phone's main screen, the one that shows all the App icons. For example, my Verse icon right now has a little red dot on it with the number 20 on it ... meaning I have 20 unread emails in my inbox (guess I better do some email clean up :-) ). So, similar to that I suggest that on each icon in my Group (or DM) list, a little red dot would show up with a number indicating number of new posts since I last opened that space. Once I go into the space, then I can find those new posts by looking at the posts sequentially or using Moments.

May I suggest a toggle option between Bill's way of doing it and the current way of displaying conversations?

:)  yes that's what I was trying to get at.  I don't think both a contact list and a recent activity list can coincide nicely in the same list.  I believe these would have to be two lists (or two views of the list, etc).

I agree with that, Ami. It's not more lists we need, just more ways to view the same list. :-) "By recency" or "by my sorting order".
