Would this be on the DM list   - like iMessage /Whatsapp does?

The inconvenience of carrying on transient conversations with more than one person is a barrier to adoption -- I've heard that more than once. Regardless of where the new "space" is in the list, this would be a great feature.

Perhaps it would work best like this: someone in a DM @mentions another person and Workspace automatically creates a space for those three people.

My team uses WWS very frequently and more than half of them have brought this issue up. They say it is a big deterrent from using WWS because they can easily create a direct message with two or more people in Sametime and Slack. I told them they just have to create a space with the people they want but I know it isn't the same and I think it is too many clicks for them.

I think this could be an easy addition that would increase usage substantially.

I'm not negating the use case - we've believed this is needed from the beginning - but I am curious - what are the extra steps they see with creating a space - that they have to name it?

Yes this is essentially the only added step, and I made this clear to them, but it turns out it is a huge one mentally for them. They want it to feel more quick/casual/temporary and not be in the same area as their spaces which are for groups with a common, focused mission.

If someone has a quick question for two individuals, they are 10x more likely to open up Sametime (or slack or email) and make a "direct message" with those two individuals rather than open WWS and create a space.

    Ok fair enough.
