yes, this is intentional so that users do not get misled into thinking that is actually a person directly messaging, but rather it's through an app

    Hi Jared,

Today apps can only create "attachments" to an empty message.  The "attachment" is interpreted as such by the clients rendering them as "created by an app".  This is a point in time statement.  We are working to allow apps to create top level messages that have "content" as well.

The existing "attachments" (ie. aka generic-annotations) will remain in the future in that apps can still create messages with or contribute to messages one or more "cards" identified by the attachment/annotation.

    Thanks for the clarification

It looks like only the message content created by a user is being annotated, not the generic annotation. So content created by apps is not annotated.

Is there a way to create messages from apps that are being annotated?

    Hi Arnd,

Content created by apps is supposed to be annotated as well.  Will work with the team to see if we have had a regression here.
