Watson Workspace is built with Watson at its core. This means that there is built-in cognitive technology, powered by Watson, working to understand, learn, and reason from your interactions. But it's not just that - it's important to us that we leverage this intelligence in meaningful ways to improve how you and your team work.
So let's start with the obvious challenges of collaboration...
We've know that too many conversations results in a lot of noise and interruptions - which means you spend a lot time and energy pivoting back and forth. You don't really know where to focus because every unread mark and notification is screaming for your attention and every conversation is weighted the same in the list. This means it's far too easy to lose where you were, miss what's important or what’s even worth catching up on. Sound familiar?
Well that frustrates us too (A LOT!) 😆 so our goal is to use Watson's cognitive technology to help prioritize what matters so you can focus on what's important. Here's how we do it:
- Moments - A moment is a smart summary of the things you missed. Watson uses Natural Language Processing to recognize and highlight information from your conversations that is important such as actions or questions. A Moment is broken down into chunks of activity that naturally occur in a conversation. It also shows the people who participated in the conversation, the key topics that were discussed and any content that was shared.
- Action fulfillment -Notice any phrases underlined in your spaces? That means someone's added an app using action fulfillment to your space. Basically app developers can train Watson to identify relevant language in the conversation and tie those phrases to specific action. For example, an app could be trained to identify everything that infers "start a meeting" and when you click on the underlined phrase, such as "Let's discuss this," it'll automatically start a video meeting with your favorite tool.
- You can also build your own cognitive apps - sky's the limit here, so be creative and be sure to share your apps.
This is just the beginning of our cognitive journey - our vision is to understand business conversations and their intent and use this to directly improve your workflow. Work IS better with Watson! We are still learning and so is Watson, so we welcome your feedback and your ideas. How do you envision working with Watson?
